About
About Carmen
I’ve been working in the mental health field for over 20 years in Burlington, VT. As a licensed psychotherapist, I meet with adults, couples and families. Additionally, I offer
Clinical Supervision and Ayurvedic consultations. I currently meet with clients in person and on-line.

As an inherently curious and non-judgmental person, I am passionate about helping people to understand themselves and their relationships. I have experience working with
trauma, improving communication, developing coping skills and inner resourcing, establishing healthy boundaries, and helping to get unstuck.

In my clinical work, I take an integrative therapeutic approach, by pulling from a family systems approach, a developmental, and strength-based framework. I utilize components
of cognitive-behavioral therapy, parts-work, relational and attachment theory. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR.

With a background in yoga and meditation, I am passionate about the value of mindfulness in my daily life, and have experience facilitating groups using mindfulness-
based cognitive therapy. I also enjoy bringing in my knowledge of the Enneagram, when appropriate. The specific treatment methods I use and the duration of psychotherapy will depend on your history, current circumstances, and our mutually-established goals for therapy.

Regardless of the treatment methods used, the focus will be on empowering you to make the changes you wish to make in your life. I am forever inspired by helping people to
find a greater sense of balance and ease amongst their whole selves-the body, mind and spirit.

Let’s face it; Life can be up, down, and all around. We can get stuck in habitual patterns that aren’t serving us and this can be uncomfortable and painful. I believe our emotions
can be messengers for us, providing the opportunity to examine what is and isn’t working.
Together, let's create the space you need to listen in and trust yourself.

As a resident of Vermont for over 20 years, I enjoy a long walk outside, traveling as much as I can,
having a warm cup of tea, and being with friends and family.
I look forward to working with you.

I believe we are here to grow and evolve.
I believe the pain can push us to grow
I believe that change and healing are always possible.
And I believe that we all need help along the way.
